Heavy vehicle road safety

Yesterday i met with Robert Ireland an owner operator of Ireland Bulk Haulage to discuss the number of deaths on our road involving heavy vehicles. He raised his concerns about low wages and rates in the industry which he believes contributes to speed, fatigue and mass (overloading) which in turn cause fatalities. I’d like to thank Robert for taking the time out of his busy day to discuss this important issue.

Robert also raised the plight of our farmers that he and his staff have seen first hand on their numerous haulage trips as well as poor mobile phone coverage in these rural areas.
