Euthanasia laws must have strong safeguards

I support people’s right to Euthanasia, however the legislation must be carefully constructed, with strong safeguards, so as to not allow it to be misused.

It is true that I originally supported the Euthanasia bill, presented by Senator Leyonhjelm, however because the Senate could not be informed of the safeguards that the ACT or NT might or might not implement, I could not in good conscience vote in support of this bill, in its current form.

My Chief of Staff and I had a successful meeting with Marshall Peron and I can assure you that there were no ‘heated’ arguments in the meeting, as colourfully reported by Greg Brown (The Australian); that is simply not how I operate.
